TB Skin Test

Skin testing using the interdermal PPD (purfied protein derivative). Tuberculosis (TB) is an infection caused by slow-growing bacteria. These bacteria tend to gather in areas of the body that have plentiful blood and oxygen, which is why TB infection is most often found in the lungs. This is called Pulmonary TB, although TB can spread to other parts of the body (which is called Extrapulmonary TB).
People that are at a high risk for getting TB should get tested once or twice every year.

Tetanus Vaccine

- Tetanus is spread through wounds or scratches in the skin and can cause extremely painful muscle spasms and death.
- Diphtheria is spread by contact and causes a thick layer to be formed over the back of the throat which can lead to respiratory compromise and death.
- Pertussis, also known as the Whooping Cough, is spread by droplets and can result in a nagging cough. While adults generally tolerate the Whooping Cough relatively well, it can be extremely dangerous to pregnant women, small children, and immunocompromised adults.
